Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

26 May 1967ParlophoneUKGeorge Martin

Issued in the UK on 26 May 1967 (press reports often cite 1 June). A concept in costume more than in plot: a fake band, a reprise, and ‘A Day in the Life’. Peter Blake and Jann Haworth’s collage cover became the most analysed sleeve in pop.

Territorial note

One of the few Beatles albums issued with the same 13-track sequence in the UK and US. Capitol did, however, send a unique dual-mono mix to some US stations.
